At Conversys Inc., we are proactive about sustaining the environment for generations to come.  We are always seeking ways to reduce the environmental footprint for ourselves and our customers.  This is why we have initiated a “green choice” initiative internally within the company and externally with our customers.

As an ongoing effort to minimize our ecological foot print, we are taking the following steps, made up of 3 R’s, within our company:

  1. Recycling: Conversys recycles almost 100% of the waste we make. This includes plastics, paper, aluminum, glass and printer cartridges.  Every room is outfitted with a recycling bin and the contents are transferred regularly to a large recycling station located in our storeroom.
  2. Reducing: In an effort to reduce the use of consumables, Conversys employees use thermal mugs instead of Styrofoam cups.  We offer cloth towels as well as paper towels.  Furthermore, in order to reduce the use of energy, we are replacing as many light bulbs as possible with Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs).   We also turn off the lights and power off computer monitors at night.
  3. Reuse: Conversys is reusing print telephone directories to prop up our computer monitors.

The Conversys solution is particularly geared at reducing the global consumption of paper. Too often, companies provide a full paper catalogue to a customer who is only interested in a section, or even one product.  Since our solution repurposes the print content for the online channel, print subscriptions can be diminished which in turn lower the consumption of natural resources.  We congratulate our customers for giving us the opportunity to transform their print publications to interactive, rich media, online marketing content.   We also wish to thank consumers when they choose online publications and reduce deforestation by requesting print copies.

Our unique “green choice” logo which appears in the top right hand corner reminds consumers that they are not only saving energy and trees; they are also reducing pollution.

According to Environmental Defence, a NY-based environmental consulting company, the average person uses about 10,000 sheets or 700 lbs of paper per year.  The same company estimates that 700 lbs of virgin, uncoated paper has the following environmental impact:

  • 8 felled trees or 1 ton of wood,
  • 13 million BTU’s of total energy,
  • 9 lbs of sulfur dioxide (SO2),
  • 1,992 lbs of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gases,
  • 9 lbs of nitrous oxides (NOx),
  • 4 lbs of particulates,
  • 2 lbs of volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
  • 6,776 gallons of wastewater and numerous other pollutants.

Therefore, using less paper and switching to online publications conserves wood, water and energy, and helps reduce pollution and waste. In addition, online publications are less costly to produce. These are all good reasons to make the earth a better environment for generations to come.
